Qwen – Alibaba AI Assistant: Complete Guide & Android Download

Qwen is the official AI assistant app from Alibaba for Android — an all-in-one companion for life, business, and entertainment. With smart chat, photo and video editing, translation, and document tools in a single app, Qwen has grown to over 5 million downloads with a 4.0-star rating, topping the Top New Free Productivity charts in the UK. Here's everything you need to know, including how to download it safely.

What Is Qwen – Alibaba AI Assistant?

Qwen is Alibaba's flagship consumer AI app, built on the company's Qwen family of large language models. It began life as Tongyi, Alibaba's original Chinese AI assistant; in November 2025, Alibaba rebranded Tongyi as Qwen on iOS and Android, unifying the app under the same name as its core AI model. The international edition — package com.tongyi.intl on Google Play — brought the app to overseas users starting in February 2026.

Rather than a simple chatbot, Qwen is designed as a multifunction AI hub: chat, media creation and editing, translation, document handling, and study help, all in one place. The app is free and has no paid tiers at the time of writing.

Key Features of Qwen

Qwen Smart Chat

Type a prompt or use voice input, and Qwen drafts ideas, plans, and full answers. Use it to brainstorm, connect with friends, plan a date, or get work done — a general-purpose AI chat for study, work, and everyday life.

Photos & Video

Turn text into anime art, logos, or AI video. Edit photos by describing what you want: remove backgrounds, change elements, or restyle images for social media — professional-style design made simple.

Visual Recognition & Files

Upload or scan a photo and ask Qwen about it — from text in documents to scenes in a short video. Identify text in photos, scan documents, and get fast insights from files like Word and PDF.

Stories & Content

Draft business plans, write stories, or script video projects through chat. From a short story to full video scripts, Qwen saves time on outlines and drafting.

Global Connect

Translate messages instantly to communicate across languages — for business, study, or dating. Language barriers disappear with this smart assistant.

Study & Game Partner

Solve study challenges, learn concepts, and get game strategy tips from Qwen, with privacy protection built in.
